About Us

We are proud to supply plants that are propagated and grown on our Somerset nursery, a short distance from Glastonbury and the Isle of Avalon. We hard grow our plants, so when you receive them, they are fully hardened to greenhouse or outdoor conditions. This also means that temperate species have no growth over the winter months, as these plants naturally die back. This is of course best for the plants, and we do not manipulate or force them to grow when they shouldn’t be, meaning our plants are more likely to survive.

Hewitt-Cooper Carnivorous Plants is owned and operated by Nigel Hewitt-Cooper, who has been captivated by these plants for nearly 40 years. Formed in 1997 it was originally based in Surrey, where the plants were housed in two poly tunnels, and from this base the business was created.

Since 2000, we have been regular exhibitors at county and flower shows, and now count the major shows in our repertoire where we have achieved many gold awards over the years, including prestigious shows such as Hampton Court, Malvern Spring, BBC Gardeners World, and the Chelsea Flower Show in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2019.

In 2004 we moved the nursery to it's current location in Somerset, and replaced the poly tunnels with a single greenhouse, which along with a better aspect is more conducive to good growth.

We are also holders of the national collection of the Sundews, Drosera.
